Starting Small
When I brainstorm strategies with clients to guide them towards better health, I often ask them to think of one single thing they could do this week that would move them closer towards a better bill of health.
People often say "THINK BIG".
I disagree.
We don’t think big here. In fact, we think really really small.
Something that’s so damn easy, that they could say with 100% confidence that it’s achievable.
For one client recently, he was proud of training twice a week, but he KNEW he wasn’t moving enough day-to-day. So for him, it was a 10-minute treadmill walk every single morning before his coffee. Easy checkbox.
For another client, it was simply starting the day with a protein shake. She knew she could knock it back in the best part of 60 seconds, and that the added 30g protein would not only leave her feeling fuller throughout the morning, but help her build the lean muscle she’s been working so hard for in the gym. Easy checkox.
We have about 4 weeks until the end of the year.
Everyone else out there is waiting til Jan 1st to “get back into it”… again. And I’m not bashing them. If anything, I encourage (and admire) people who take every opportunity they can to better themselves, particularly if it means investing into their health.
But if you started now, that’s a 4-week head start. You could already be building momentum so that come January, you’re not just getting back into it, but you’re hitting the ground running. And that momentum is huge, because it compounds.
So my question to you, loyal reader, is what’s an easy checkbox you could implement starting tomorrow, that would move you even a step closer to better health?
Think small, and set yourself up for success.
Then go execute.
Talk soon,
Michael
PS. if you fancy sharing that easy checkbox with me, feel free! People respond directly to me all the time (you can also leave it in the comments section below), and I have a sneaking suspicion that actually voicing it can really help solidify this new habit.
